Sarah Hughes, Great Neck's own teen-age figure skating champion who keeps
piling up honors and victories, won a bronze medal at the National U.S.
Figure Skating Championship event, which was held on Feb. 11 and 12 in
Cleveland, Ohio. She performed the first triple salchow and triple loop, to
the applause of all concerned.
"Everyone was wonderful," said her mother, Amy Hughes, who is kept mighty
busy with her children's ice skating activities, as well as other triumphs.
Sarah Hughes has now qualified the the World Team, which will appear in
Nice, France on March 26. "I can't keep track of all the countries in which
Sarah has competed," her mother said. "It's a wonderful experience,
especially since she does so well!"
